Top armor on Helos

I am wondering about Top armor on Helicopters, does it help or not really do anything?

I am playing around with an idea and thought I would ask the hive mind around for input.

helos are planes, and planes use armour differently from land vehicles, see the mobhak help for the limited fields used.
