sorry, i was just being a wiseass with the sentient multimeter thing. i thought it sounded funney and in the spirit of the game.

as far as i know, they were always designed to be purely hostile. but i really dont know much.

The Tan Ru see your flotilla as being a bunch of nice clean machines with a hideous infestation of carbon-based gunk inside, and all kinds of design flaws like cavities filled with oxygen that allow the organic plague to thrive. Better to vaporize them and harvest the raw materials. Root will be pleased.

But look at Star Trek, The Old Series. You'll find a probe named "Tan Ru". Its mission is to sterilize all life it encounters because it is not "perfect".

Y'know... if you were going to have some item that could placate robots that want to exterminate all organic life... how 'bout a "V-GER Probe?"

And to make it poetically perfect, I'd find some way to make a Melodium-clone item called "Star Drek: The Motionless Picture," which of course puts you to sleep for a year, but rewards you with the V-GER Probe afterwards.

<font color="red">{EDIT 1: Well, come to think of it... the V-GER Probe would probably be better as a kind of Kawangi-clone, which could be placated (like the Tchorak) by giving it a "Bald Vegan Chick" creature/item. And maybe the arrival of V-GER could be heralded by finding the "Star Drek" item (like that H item does for the D &amp; P items). Or maybe the Space Whales...}

i think peace conditions should be mutually exclusive. you make peace with one species, and it angers their enemies. Thus, you can only be at peace with one or two races at a time.
