Colour problem on Windows 7 and direct launch via winSPMBT.exe

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

When I launch winSPMBT.exe the colors are messed up. See attached screenshot.

My system and setup:
- Windows 7
- Desktop resolution: 1920 x 1200
- Game options:
Quote:

* Show Introduction : No
* Game Mode : Full Screen (GDI)
* Screen/Window Size: Desktop
As advised in the manual, the game is installed in C:\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPMBT

I found that if I launch the game with "Play WinSPMBT" from the Game Options application, all is fine.

Are you trying to launch the game directly from its own exe rather than the GameOptions launcher?.

Your final sentence seems to indicate that you are doing precisely that:

That would explain our problem with windows 7 messing up the palette in full screen modes. That's because the game options programme will launch it using the proper command script to nuke the aero interface - see point 2.2 in the "Windows Seven and Vista Installation" sticky thread posted at the top of this forum. Please read the entirety of section 2.

So - launch the game from GameOptions in windows 7/Vista full-screen mode or by using the appropriate .cmd file if you want to bypass the launcher for some reason. Don't try to double-click the game exe file, because the necessary shell script won't have been run!. Simples.

Hi Mobhack,

I now realize that with DRG you are the 2 developers of the Camo Workshop. It's good to be able to communicate directly with the developers :)

That is what I was doing initially and resulted in the colour palette problem.

That is what I do now. And it's OK for me.

Sorry, I did not see that this subject has already been raised in the sticky post you mention.

Thanks.

I get the same problem as topic starter when running full screen. Same problem starting game from options as well as the main exe.
In addition I can only select 640*480 and 800*600 when running windowed. The remaining better resolutions are grey out.

Running win 7 with a 3GB AMD Radeon on 1920*1080. I suspect the game can't deal with the GFX card. I need to lower my desktop resolution to play and it is a clumsy solution.

Are your drivers up to date & winsp installed out of programme files? I have 3 different AMD cards & they all work fine.
Sudden thought you are not using the free version are you they would be greyed out then.

You are right! I thought I bought the game back in april. I reinstalled it the other day. This is the free version. The fix is obvious! ;-)
