Favourite Wishes

I've been thinking about Wish.

It appears to be a great spell. So great, in fact, that no matter what I do, I feel that I'm wasting it. Feeling a bit noob-ish.

What do you consider good/great things to wish for? It is, after all, an extremely expensive spell.

A list of all keyword combinations for absolutely everything you can possible wish for is at http://dom3.servegame.com/wiki/Wish

Usually, people wish for unique items (e.g. The Chalice) or units, or gems.

Wish is THE final word in filling in for whatever you need. It's expensive, but will get you ANYTHING to some degree. A wish is well-used if it's getting you something you couldn't get otherwise. A true supercombatant when you have no death or national ones, for example. Wishing for gems is smart so long as your need isn't restricted to a few different types (if all the gems you can use are astral, death, and nature, then it's a waste to wish for gems since you get a better rate of exchange on the gems you can use just by alchemizing the 100 pearls in the first place).

As Ich says, wishing for an artifact is great since that's frequently the only way open to you to obtain the artifact.

Many of the choices really are vain, and should not be used, even when they're beneficial.

Wishing for strength, for the most part, is a waste. The mage who can get to S9 is probably not SC material, so all the stat boosts (except maybe the extra hp) are pretty useless.

Seraph (a national summon for Marignon, Pythium, etc) is my most common wish.

Wishing for gems is never a waste, because if you alchemize all the gems you receive back to astral then you end up with 100 gems. Any you do not turn back to astral gems, you have essentially received at a 2:1 ratio from the astral gems through the wish.

I've gotta admit, more than 50% of my wishes have been Armageddon.

Wishing for Gems under the Astral Nexus is my most common wish in multiplayer.

I've heard from a lot of vets that usually the general order of best wishes is: gems, gems, chalice or gatestone, slaves, seraph.

The exception being certain Pretender Gods.

On the other hand, if you've built your pretender to be able to cast wish, it's likely because you don't expect to have access to Wish without him. Therefore, you'll want to keep him in a lab wishing, not off killing armies. He can Wish up people for that.

On the gripping hand, he's also, by definition, capable of Teleport and Mass Enslave, which may be worth doing and fragile chassis may benefit from the extra hp at least.
