M1A1 Greece

It looks like the American congress (committee ?) signed and some time in 2012 the 400 M1A1's are expected in Greece.

So far from what they say, they are going to be without DU armor and perhaps ammo.

Still, I rather have them with their 120mm to compliment the Leo2s than the Leo1 and M-48A5 (most of which will be send to islands)

We'll keep an eye on this. Greece isn't exactly swimming in cash ATM and 400 M1A1's are just the thing to announce cut backs on first.

Oh, no, they are for free. The only issue now is getting 20 million dollars for repairs where needed and transportation. Which is as sad as it sounds.

It looks like the Führer gave orders to the "Greek" government to pause the acceptance of the 400 free tanks. After all, only Germany should be allowed to sell Greece tanks from now on.
The group of fascist lapdogs known as the "Greek" government, accepted the order.
Till there are news, that is the situation. :(

Well, the European nations with somewhat stable economy frowned upon the Greek plan to use 20 million euros on tanks. Like they wouldn't have better use for their money with their -10.5% budget deficit...

Go give some land to Russia.
And I never asked for any money from the EU.
The current government in Greece before the elections went to the elections with the promise it will fix the economy, and that there is plenty of money and no reason to cut anything. What they didn't say was that at the same time they were talking to the IMF to sell off the country. So, take your money and shove it.

I'm sorry if I offended you Wdll, but I only attempted to make a joke with some Finnish sense of black humor. Tabloids over here of course rolled in big headlines about how Greek government is going to spend the loan money in tanks (not stating that they're basically free, only the transport and maintenance will cost them). Whole Europe (and US) economy seems to be screwed.

This situation in overall isn't going to end fast and it's not going to end well (for average John Smith/Otto Normalverbraucher/Ville Virtanen/Aristóteles Amadópulus).

Over and out.

Some good news, according to the article a new group left for the States soon since it is now possible for a group of Greek shipowners to take the cost of shipping them to Greece. Hopefully soon enough we are going to have good news.
