Any chance to have the AA \"bug\" fixed some day ?

Hello,
Since the first SE5 version Antialiasing is not usable with the game, the 2D windows and mouse cursor slows to a crawl (less than 1 fps!) when AA is on. It's the same with 1.25, and I've had the same problem with a Radeon as well as Nvidia cards and drivers, so I really think there's something buggy in the game ! Yet AA would be nice as the 3D isn't that crisp...OTOH AF does work but isn't very useful.

Any chance to have that fixed ?

For me it's the opposite. AA works fine, although it causes some slow down (5-10 FPS), but AF causes a major hit (20-40 FPS http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif ). If I disable my AF the game runs great, but I get artifacts on nearly every single 2D graphic near the bottom corner of the graphic. For example, component pictures have a few flickering pixels on their bottom edge.

I'm going to be getting a new vid card by wednesday. Currently I have a 9800 Pro, and I'm going up to a 7600 GS. I sure hope it works better...

I fixed it! Go into your computers appearance->effects window and turn clear type off. My FPS skyrocketed to what it should be at (~130 FPS http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif )

Gonna go post at the other forum now. WOO! I can play now!

Antialiasing? Where is that option in the game? That would be really useful, as the hex grids and planets are horribly aliased (the hex grids are especially annoying as they repeat!) And what is this AF you're talking about?

Its not in the game- but you can use your graphics card drivers to force it.

Disabling font AA has no effect for me, unlike updating Catalyst from 6.8 to 6.12 (gave a 6X fps boost in 1.25 demo).

AF is Anisotropic Filtering (don't ask me more ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif) . Both AA and AF aren't manageable ingame, but from graphics card drivers software.
And sure AA would make the game looks nicer if only it didn't make the perfs completely plummet from 60 down to a couple fps !! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/Injured.gif

I haven't seen this at all. I have a Nvidia Fx 5700 Ultra 128 DDR Ram (Dr - 81.95). Everything runs fine.

I can run the game fine with AA and AF both on.
