ERA Armour

So far in the game the only reactive armour I have noticed is on Russian tanks & IFVs plus I think some stuff scheduled for service.
I thought nowadays most tanks carried it or am I wrong in assuming reactive armour models explosive armour?

No, they don't. The russians are the only ones who have used it extensively on their tanks and have done most of the development work. The israelis were actually using it before the soviets did but eventually dropped it (for the most part at least) in favor of composite armors. The US has used it sparingly (M60 refit, Bradley and more recently Abrams TUSK on top of my head).
There are many reasons for these different courses of action.

Re: ERA Armour

In the West it is taken more like ad hoc uparmoring until Something New And Shiny(tm) comes.
Israel: Improvement of protection of Centurions and M60 series against RPGs until the Centurions went away and M60s received new passive armor kits.
Britain: Protection of lower front armor of Challengers against RPGs.
USA: Improvement of protection of Marine M60s until the Marines got fully on the M1 bandwagon. Protection of M1 sides against RPGs in urban combat. RPotection of Bradleys.

The British don't use ERA. Those are just blocks of extra armour. I managed to prove that to the game designers a few years back, and they included it in the game. Have a look at the challenger 2+ ;)

Thanks for correction, seems I got wrong info (pretty dated, too) identifying these panels as ERA. So composite it is then.
