Scenario: French Marine Paras in Algeria 7/1959
1 Attachment(s)
French Marine Paras of 4e Cne,6er RPIMa hold a blocking position against FLN insurgents in Algeria's Hodna Mountains during Operation Etincelles, July 1959.
Slotted for 529. Use careful ammo discipline. Bonne chasse, mon Capitaines! |

Nice scenario, RazGator!
Gotta wonder what the French were thinking, though, sending their troops to fight in Algeria with smgs! The Mosin-Nagants of the FLN sure shine at those longer ranges. One strange thing I noticed though. My A0 starts off as a chopper passenger, but for some reason I can't seem to unload him, seems he has cold (rather than black) feet! ;) Any ideas on this? |
Re: Scenario: French Marine Paras in Algeria 7/1959
I'm afraid that is an error on my part. Since there is no units in the OOB specifically noted as Marine Paras, I tried several different types of companies before settling on just regular Marines (mostly because of the morale modifier). I also tried several different types of helicopters. I suspect that during the course of all these changes, I inadvertently deleted the HQ or the helicopter that it was loaded onto. Frankly, I'm not sure how to remedy the error without re-doing the entire scenario from scratch. I would also note that, it seems unlikely that a Lt. Colonel would actually be on the ground with a company sized blocking action. Any suggestions you might have regarding possible remedies would be helpful.

He he, yeah, I just assumed he was 'leading from the sky'.
As for the smg heavy units, I'm not familiar enough with the french oob to make any useful recommendations, but I suspect that any para units in Algeria would have a decent percentage of MAS CR39s. Just a thought. Regardless, it's a different and enjoyable scenario. Thanks. |
