I don't think there is a single answer, it depends how much AI creator utilized Gold-specific options. If AI in question is not very complex, you can simply remove extra lines in settings.txt (even that may not be nessecary ! - not sure). But if AI uses extra Gold features, like design _names_ in construction.txt file, it may be very difficult to do.

or you can just replace the files which generate errors, whith files from pre-gold AI.

Hey there I was hoping someone out there still remembers Version 1.49 and can answer my question? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Can I use a gold race in 1.49? And if not can I just use the steps to convert 1.49 AI to gold and reverse them to make a gold race re-compatible with 1.49?

I know I cant use any gold mods with 1.49 but I just want to use the custom races..

ok so far so good, sounds either easy or very hard hehe. Thanx guys, anyone else have any ideas about this? if not I can work with what I have now thanx again!

Edit: Ok I dont have ANY old AI left since my Last format http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif So I am requesting that if anyone has any old 1.49 AI from a custom race could you email me or maybe post it as a .zip or if there's a better way lemme know I'd REALLY appreciate the help thanx!! Oh I also need to know if you need GOLD to play tcp/ip multiplayer..as far as I can tell 1.49 has only play by email or hotseat...ugh. Thanx guys and gals!

Im fairly certain that TCP/IP was added in gold. as for older AI, I think you can still download pre-gold Versions of the TDM mod. Check at PBW and in the file section here, unless someone more helpfull than myself has a link.
