Detailed Scan

I have purchased Long Range Sensors and they mention being able to conduct a detailed scan of enemy ships. I have noticed no difference between my displays before and after the purchase. Is there a key I'm supposed to hit to scan ships or is that just a feature that isn't implimented? I'd like to scan my freighter prey to better judge their worth before attacking.

There is a key to hit, IIRC its a "LRS" button that shows up on the target display. Press that.

At early tech levels you also have to be really close to the ship in order to use it.
