All Modders - Questions about Neutral Races. I have heard that Neutral races are not allowed to leave their home system. 1. Is this true? 2. If so is it hard coded or controlled by a setting in a txt file? 3. If in a text file, which one? I have this idea to add some nuetral races, and I am curious how flexible the game is in this area. |

Re: All Modders - Questions about Neutral Races. A 'neutral' is supposed to remain in its home system, yes. Whether that is hard coded or not I can't say. Maybe the 'personality group' in the ai_settings file controls this? All of the neutrals are personality group 0 while the AI empires have other numbers for their personality group. But the 'neutrals' do NOT always remain in their home systems. It's better than it used to be. I occasionally had neutrals taking over the galaxy in some earlier betas. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif Now, I think it's mainly the "space anomaly" event that sometimes boots a neutral ship out into the galaxy. Re: All Modders - Questions about Neutral Races. Baron, I thought personality group might have someting to do with it too, but I found an earlier post where Daynar determined that personality group related to the chance of a race being used when the game randomly selects races. Anybody else have any input? Geo |

Re: All Modders - Questions about Neutral Races. geoschmo: you can add a neutral race to the mix but it may or may not be added to the game (unable to add yourself as they do not have an .emp file). I have several added neutral races and they DO show up but they do just sit in their home system. |
