By the way....
Will it be possible to add Dom II music to Dom III ? Not to replace it, but to have MORE of it :-) DomII music is freely available with the demo anyway.

Nerfix, for next time, ask if there's been any change in the combat orders system and (pre-combat) setup. There's be no info released on that! Go ask it! GOGOGO!!

Commands for modding music? That'd be cool, I think.

#addsong, #addbattlesong, #clearsongs, #clearbattlesongs should do it for any filetypes that Dominions supports... What those are is another matter altogether.

"18th may
* Alaw sound compression, so we can squeeze all music onto the CD."

I don't remember what the DomII music encoding was, but we'd have atleast Sun's a-Law. (At least I think it is from Sun, I found one comment from it being a "logarithmic compression" and "originating from Sun Microsystems.") If some more common music format was added...

EDIT
Of course, adding subfolders 'background' and 'battle' for songs would also work, and the program could randomly choose a song to play from all those in that folder it can read...

Then again - don't most of us play our own music while playing? I know the music that comes with most non-linear games gets old. It's one thing to have music in a, say, RPG when it changes constantly as the game goes one. Quite a different thing to have a few tunes getting used over and over and over....

If it was possible to have the game choose from your own music in addition to the default music, the game's own music would last for much longer.

If "music modding" was added, nation-spesific tunes could also be defined. There have been threads, already, so...

Here's a workaround that worked for me: I bought some Falsobodorne CDs, put them in my CD changer and set my stereo to mix the Dom2 FX from the computer with the CD-Music...works neatly! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif And while I am away, my laptop usually mixes the mp3s and Dom2 game sounds neatly too... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

PS: I also strongly support Argitoth on this issue here: Go ask for the tactical setup! :shy: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I've listened to both Fear Factory and Rammstein while playing Dominions II. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

And also Apocalyptica which in my opinion fits the game well. Especially 'Harmageddon'.

EDIT: I also downloaded the songs they have for download on the Falsobordone site and I can't stop listening to "Muito faz grand' ero".
