 strange commands

I get a kick out of seeing the actions of my commanders that are driven mad by Rlyeh. Their scripts change from things like "defend" and "patrol" to things like "That is not a star" or "Call God" or "Fhtagn". I dont know what Fhtagn is but I checked the code and its a legal action of some sort. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

its a chant from hp lovecraft. "Ia Ia Cthulhu Fhtagn"

 Re: strange commands

Fhtagn is something people did in the 70s. It had to do with disco. Or Disco Volante from Mr. Bungle (which rather oddly, does sound like something an insane commander would make).

 Re: strange commands

The whole sentence(?) is: "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'ngl fhtagn." That is, "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming." It's from "The Call of Cthulhu".
But my doctor says I shouldn't try to remember any more than that. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/stupid.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif |

 Re: strange commands

Is it possible those two raise the leaders insanity?

 Re: strange commands

Possibilities include, but are not limited to:
	1) Nothing 2) Raises insanity (had not thought of that one) 3) Tries to summon void monsters (usually wouldn't work, so how would you know?) 4) Somehow interacts with R'lyeh freespawn (was Frank's theory) 5) Ftaghn I should probably do some insane testing and find out. |

 Re: strange commands

It could simply be another name for a regular command. 'Hear my dreams of R'lyeh' could be the same as preach, for instance.

 Re: strange commands

Well, that seems unlikely, since "Preach" is one of the commands that insane commanders will sometimes perform. It is certainly possible, however.

 Re: strange commands

Maybe preach for the enemy god.
