Giving away mod concept (V1.6: 6 ships, 1 quest)

Hi all,
first of all a big "Thank you!!" to the guys creating these brilliant mods and keep the game alive. I was intending to make a mod on my own, but after struggling for ages i realized its time to give away my ideas, feel free to use it in your mods if you like it.
First thing is a Tan Ru Carrier, called Replicator (somewhat stolen from Stargate, i know, but the name was just too fitting). The graphics have never made it past concept, but i attached them for anyone who might want to use them.
Keep it going and thank you all,
Simon

Re: Giving away mod (ships, quests) concept

Thanks, just downloading it now. I might add the Replicator to my mod. Good name by the way.

The Second ship is a Tchorak mothership class, either a carrier or supermissile launcher, whatever suits you best. It is also a good example how much i suck at graphics http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
Free for all to use + improve.

The files can be found in the first post, the previous files are always included.

More coming up soon,
Simon

Ship 3 + 4 are destroyers for the weaker Races, namely Muktians and Garthans. Just to give them ships with decent firepower and more variety in general.

The files can be found in the first post, the previous files are always included.

Expect more to come up. Also I would love to get some feedback on these ideas, feel free to tell me what you liked/disliked and if you want me to spill out more.

Hey Screamer,

Me thinks you're a little hard on yourself with respect to your artistic abilities - the ships look real good. I especially like the Tchorak.

Cheers,

Blargue

Thanks for the flattery blargue, but all of these are simple copy + paste assemblies from the default ships.

Edited version index to files folder, for V1.5 I have added a Tan Ru prototype which has assimilated a Zorg fighter, including the warp capability. A small quest idea linked to this ship is also included.

Fell free to discuss, critizise or improve these ideas.

Hey, that's all I did to make most of my extra ships for existing races (well there was some playing with color overlays and stuff too, but still)

Originally I wanted to do something really interesting with my damnable half-broken corrupted Tan Ru quest, and have one fleet flyign around assimilating different races and getting mroe abilities as it did, but this mod is so far from being able to do that... actually now that I type it, I might know how to make that happen. Damn!

Sometimes you only need to say sth loud to get the right idea...
What abilities could they assimilate from the Muktians? Ah, i know, but race name needs to change into Tan Rooze then... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

I was just wondering if giving away these things is worth the efford, as there is not much feedback. Is anyone actually using one of these in his mod?

Please keep posting them. None will work with the mod I'm currently working on (due to it's theme) but I may use them when I move on to another project (or just spice up my old stuff with them when I'm bored some day).
