You could always make a mod that either:

a) removes all the ramshields so enemy ships won't try to ram you

b) gives all ships ramshields so ramming does less damage

c) increase all weapon...

Any luck with the "random number generator" kludge you'd discussed? Does it work?

I tried something similar to make random items generate at the start of the game for you...
