Even if you don't have a CD burner, you can still send backup files to some willing person for safekeeping. No system is failsafe, but the safest backups are always off site.

You can always store some up your back-up disks at some family member's, or a neighbor's house. That will go a long way toward solving the fire/theft problem.

I have been keeping notes in a separate file anyway. That way if I'm inclined to keep track of player personalities, i.e. strategies, betrayals, etc, the notes survive after the game is over.

I guess the designer wasn't thinking of the modability angle when he made that a linked list. Linked lists are okay for covering memory issues with certain kinds of records, but I never really liked...
