Re: PBW ethics, opinions please.

Well, one of the advantages to retroseries bldg is that your ship can collect experience while in the retroseries process instead of the ship being in the build que - so strategically it probably...

Re: happiness modifiers

Ah, I see you can't cancel a declaration of war like you can a partnership - but no you if I read the data files correctly there is no penalty for a Non Aggression.

Re: does religious *need* the talisman?

Everyone keeps talking about how powerful the Talisman is, but it has been a while since I've seen a religious player win in PBW - which tells me that it is really not all that unbalanced after all....

Re: does religious *need* the talisman?

Except for the Nature Shrine and maybe the Time Shrines all the other shrines are minimally useful and the fate shrine is a joke. Merely gutting the Talisman will make people simply not choose...

Re: PBW Server is down - and back up again

So I guess I won't refresh my browser every five minutes.

Although it seems like a huge coincidence that the server went down the same day a 400+ fleet of Geo's was blown up by a nebulae.

Re: 300 Ways To Tell If Your Addicted To SE IV (Updated)

OT: in a windy Salon article David Brin says,

"Sauron's army was the one that included every species and race on Middle Earth, including all the despised colors of humanity, and all the lower classes.

Hmm. Did they all leave their homes and...

Re: combat analysis please

Well your -25% to hit out of the shoot

-15% for sensor difference, -10% for lc.

he's +15% to hit +25% to hit for sensor difference - 10% for armor

So that's a 40% difference in combat.

Re: "Gamey" tactics like "Rock, none" races

The only truly equitable situation would be for players to have to start with the same set up - sort of like Chess. But what fun is that?

Personally I think any strategy, tactic, or component that...

Re: "Gamey" tactics like "Rock, none" races

My favorite use of a star destroyer is as a stop gap measure. Just park it at a system as a Last resort. You can use it ambush an opponent with an overwhelming fleet. It severe tactics, but it saved...
