Pirates anyone?

I was just wondering, has anyone thought to produce either random events or intelligence projects involving pirates or privateers?

I always thought it would be interesting to be able to donate...

Re: Population Migration

Actually, I don't find it very hard just to collect full pop transports, and unload them on your next new colony. Even easy to RP, if you write in the "accommodations and amenities for a stellar...

Re: Neutral pack 1.00

Me, too. If I weren't gearing up to do a multiplayer game soon, I'd probably add these. I love neutral races! Give them some solid technology and make a construction yard world in their space, and...

Re: A revisit to politics

SO far as I can tell...intel really doesn't do much but cosmetic damage. I mean, sure, you can taint worlds, maybe blow up a ship or two. But against a competent opponent, all you accomplish is...

Re: A revisit to politics

Blackmail, bribes, threats, subterfuge, insertions of loyal ex-patriots...

I'm not saying it can't be done, but why can't I do that?

Re: A revisit to politics

Half a dozen replies later, and the answer is only alluded to.

Re: A revisit to politics

What I mean to ask is, is it a bug or a feature?

A revisit to politics

You know, I was hoping that empire AIs would get smarter...

But this is just trouble.

Either there's a glitch in the system, or one of my computer enemies is running a smear campaign on me,...

You're right. That's odd that it would prevent you from downloading the image.

Re: Retreating Task Forces?

That's, to an extent, what I do.

I try to design multi-role ships. My picket ships are light attack craft. They surround a larger ship, say a cruiser, with a light offensive shell. Most only...

Re: Retreating Task Forces?

Update (for anyone who cares to know)

A nail-biting 3 minutes of loading, and my months-long game from 1.25 successfully updated to the current version without any script editing!

haha, well, that's all right.

The reason for the version was...I'm a slacker. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

I do hope that an updated list of AIs have been provided...

Re: Retreating Task Forces?

I bet this has something to do with the fact that I am on version 1.25.

Updating won't screw with my saved games, will it?

Re: Retreating Task Forces?

Next question. How do you ensure that the core ship is the flagship?

Re: quick SEV gameplay questions

You know, I kinda wanted to see if I could do this game without too much modding (even though I'm now watching that Gritty Universe mod, or something, with interest), but messing with those sounds...

Although, I have another question.

I've been pretty patient about this, especially...

Re: Jethanis Incident

Stardate 2440.1

It has been concluded that organic shipbuilding and armor are beyond our grasp. Most of the remaining 19 captured vessels shall be retained for defensive duties within the system,...

Ringworlds. Yes, ringworlds. Forgot what they were called.

And thanks for the definitely beneficial definitions. Guess those dozen organic destroyers I have won't do me much good...

Re: quick SEV gameplay questions

Figured out the matter gravity spheres...but now I'm eating forkfull after forkfull of organic ships, and all I'm getting are these temporary, and useless, token hull construction levels.

What...

Re: Jethanis Incident

Stardate 2439.8

About half a score of destroyers managed to escape the system on minimal power, but another 16+ destroyers remain in the system.

In addition, a pair of battleships, a few light...

Re: Some hints for approaching SEV

Try to relate between SE IV and SE V as two animals in the same genre, and it's a little easier. V is more intricate, and I personally enjoy hand-shaping my empires. I dunno about presets, but I...

Re: Jethanis Incident

Stardate 2439.5

Re: Jethanis Incident

Stardate 2439.3

USHF 1 seemingly took one of the Xi'Chung major fleet bases a little more rapidly than the local enemy forces could handle.
Shortly after the planet was conquered, a fuel depleted...
