I'll probably run it at a future date with the map text layer code commented out and see if it runs OK.

I have tried map text off, it worked for ten or twelve turns and then bang...

Right then - downloaded the map Don put up, problem reappears.

Tried my own solution again, and the problem reappeared.

So it seems to be inconsistent, whatever it is and needs more...

Confirmed - saving the map in the scenario editor looks like it fixed the (presumed) bad data.

- enter scenario editor, immediately select custom map, load map #40
- now select edit map

Yes - immediately going into the edit map function (in the scenario editor) and pressing M to disable map text seems to do the trick.

After doing that I went and bought troops and then deployed...

I transferred the map to WW2 and tried it. After a bit and after troop purchases it went squiffy when deploying them. It seems to be related to having troops on the table somehow.

Something to try...

The French tanks with 1 man turrets should have lower rate of fire than a similar one with a better turret crew (exept if MG or cannon armed, auto weapons and rifles etc with 1 WH size usually get 6...

To edit on this forum software press the edit button, wait a second and press it again.

No idea why that is so, but the multiple botton press is needed to get it to work.

And if you see the "hit by shell splinters" message then that hit will never take the hit vehicle past buttoned status, so you are wasting shots if you get those in the main.

Tanks can be hit by scattered shots if HE is used. It alo costs them MP (and thus shots) to enter the same hex as another unit, but there are no particular disadvantages to stacking them in the same...

OOB 22 does different things for different opponents - e.g its ISIS against Iraq post Saddam, different Islamist groups vs the French and so on. And ISIS did capture and use some ex-Iraqui MBT.

There is a hard-coded maximum turns - about 90?

So open it in the scenario editor, enter a bigger number of turns and then save it, but remember that games automatically will terminate at turn...

If abandoned things were still considered active targets then the AI would as likely expend valuable ordnance killing them off rather than moving on to "live" targets.

In SP series games an abandoned unit is now a map decoration. It can be destroyed by a unit of yours camping out on the same hex for a turn, but that is the only way you can destroy the decoration....

Auto rally does a rally attempt for all units at end turn. Why one would turn that preference to off eludes me, unless the user wants everyone to rout off the map??

No units "take cover"...
