AEC Deacon SP

The armour factors of '1' all round are too low. I accept that getting data on this beast is difficult, and when we were researching ASL I even wrote to the Turkish Military Attache in London in the...

Re: Polikarpov I-15 photos, icon 491

I have been giving you a hard time, which I regret. I have bee working from the encyclopaedia's list of units. Presumably you want me to find a unit within a specific scenario? I am fairly new to...

Re: AEC Mk I icon 617

Sorry to be a pain, but I have no idea how to get the unit number - some of us are computer-challenged. Please bear with me and advise.

Re: 15mm BESA and other autocannons

Thanks. My best source is B.T. White's British Tanks and Fighting Vehicles 1914-1945, Ian Allen, 1970, p. 50:
"The Light tank Mark VIC was used in small numbers by the 1st Armoured Division in...

AEC Mk III, icon 616

As with the Mk II, the armour factors for the turret are wrong as this version shared the new lighter turret used on the Mk II.

Suggested commentary: The last 200 AECs were fitted with the...

AEC Mk II, icon 616

The photo used is a Mk III, not a Mk II. The former had a muzzle brake and sometimes a small counterweight, the latter a counter-weight only. The turret armour factors are wrong. The Mk II and III...

AEC Mk I icon 617

The photo is wrong - it is of the Mk I prototype. A better photo of the true Mk I can be found in Bellona Print # 16, Bracknell 1968.

Suggested commentary: These white elephants were the result of...

AEC Mk I icon 617

Suggested commentary: These were Winston Churchill's white elephants, and a post-war British report on armour in the Mediterranean theatre observed that they never employed an important part in the...

Red face Polikarpov I-15 photos, icon 491

The photos show an I-152, otherwise known as an I-15 bis. The I-15 was an older type that probably saw little or no action according to most books on Soviet aircraft. Be that as it may, the photos...

T-34/85 M1943 icon 80

The brief entry for this vehicle states that it had a two-man turret crew, when it should be three men.

Re: 15mm BESA and other autocannons

These Mk VIs used in the Mediterranean were NOT Mk VIc versions. This was thoroughly researched for ASL (unfortunately a long time ago). I will try and get sources for you. Some of mine were lost...

Re: 15mm BESA and other autocannons

This might not be the appropriate location to post this, but the Mark VIc light tank fitted with the 15mm BESA only saw service in France 1940, although one exmple together with a sample of the...

Re: British OOB7 corrections/suggestions (v.6)

I sympathise with people complaining about inaccuracies, but nit-picking can be taken too far. For example, after autumn 1941 most Soviet aircraft, including some Lend-Lease types, did NOT have stars...

Re: Various issues

Well, here is a lesson for us all! I thought that I knew the game inside-out; never knew about the '5' key! How humiliating. All fine now... I will crawl into a hole somewhere.

Re: Various issues

Thanks, chaps. One of the first things I tried was to go into Misc and set the button to NO. It makes no difference.

Re: Various issues

Thank you, gentlemen for replying. When I go into 'Preferences' and pre the ID Tags button it changes from ON to OFF but nothing happens in the game and the ID letters remain on the units.

I will...

Various issues

Anyone know how to get rid of unit ID Tags when 'Preferences' does not work? ID Tags just irritate me! I have consulted customer support and they have never come across the problem!

I note that...
