Haven't played SE4 in a very long time, but it was always enjoyable where the replacement, to me, is not.
SE4 appeared to have many limitations based on size of variables.... 256 (8 bit) for...

It's a bit harder to weld in a non-inert atmosphere. Both arc-welding and oxy-acetylene welding work just fine in space. It's the service call that's a killer....
