Re: CoE III

Thanks Strider and Gandalf, I appreciate the sneak peaks :)

To point out what I meant with the colors, I just dragged a COE2 window next to a COE3 screenshot, see attached file. The COE2 one just...

Re: CoE III

Beta testers not bound by NDA? That's a refreshing change :)

So what are battles like compared to COE2 or Dom3?
How does the XP system work?
Is it just me or does the map look a bit colourless?...

Re: Illwinter's next project

Oh me too for sure, even though I'll never have time to play it. "Just shut up and take my money" - as the saying goes :)

Re: prototype SK-creating algorithm

This sounds like a really useful piece of software. Potentially it could also be used with a random map generator (maybe mine, in the future :)), to generate random indy monsters in some of the...

Re: Tartarian says 'All must end'

Can an insane pretender become his own prophet? Sounds like the kind of guy you do not want to end up next to on the subway.

Re: Snodmapper, random map generator, proof-of-concept release

Thanks for the links Gandalf!

I have seen the ParadoxHarbinger generator before, that's pretty sophisticated stuff if I remember the maths right. For me those kind of exercises inevitably lead to...

Snodmapper, random map generator, proof-of-concept release

Hi all!

Largely since the good lch thought he might want to have a look, I have uploaded source code and some instructions on how to play around with my random map generator.

Have a look here:...

Re: Official release of the unofficial Dominions 3 Wiki

Hi lch,

Very useful wiki, great effort, great job!

Keeping up my own futile attempts at being useful to the community, I have added links from my online interface of the spell/forge database to...

Re: Offline version of spell database?

Well importing the data into a database is very easy. It's also the job I did the worst :) I ripped the structure straight from the excel sheet, which was a really bad idea in retrospect.

To...

Re: Offline version of spell database?

Thanks, I like to think it's useful :)

Unfortunately it is not easy to move it offline. All the spells are stored on the server and every time you perform a search it goes through that.

If I...

Re: Liquid Research and a Lock out button

The ideal way to implement this dialog IMHO is simply to (somehow) let the user specify the order in which he wants to research the different schools. Voila, no twiddling about with awkward sliders...

Re: Spell database - Web interface

Good thing I started this thread so that finally there is a place on the internet where people can discuss amongst themselves which browser is the best one :)

Going off-topic for a bit, I gave up...

Re: is there a website/faq with all the national spells?

Sweet! I didn't know DrPraetorious had released a new version of his database, I will go ahead update my database when I find the time, maybe during the weekend.

I have indeed not done any...

Re: Spell database - Web interface

Varsågod Dedas :)

I've now added forgeable items as well. I made a real mess of the xml/xslt imo, but at least it seems to work. Rather than spend a day redesigning the whole thing in a sane way...

Re: Spell database - Web interface

Thanks Jarkko!

The original database is missing descriptions for some of the spell types (including fires from afar and charm), and thanks to how I joined stuff in my sql query those spells were...

Re: Spell database - Web interface

It's really a shame that it's not working in Safari, I was hoping it might but here's confirmation from apple that we're not there yet:

Kristoffer, did you really try entering all possible permutations of magic levels and spell filters?...

Re: Spell database - Web interface

Yes that's right. I boldly state it's one of the very few pages on the internet which uses client side XSLT. I have no research or statistics to back that up - so prove me wrong :)

But as I said...

That was such a good idea that I had to add it right away :) Now supported.

Re: Spell database - Web interface

Thanks guys!

Yes it's unfortunately true that it's not currently possible to differentiate national from non-national spells. The original database does contain this information, but I have not...

Post Spell database - Web interface

Hi all!

I thought it was time to start a thread about the web interface I made for the Dom3DB. A lot of people know about it, some may even use it, but it's a good idea to start a thread so new...

Re: Any interest in a RMG?

Don't panic, I have been working on it. One of my modus operandi is getting stuck in tiny details which aren't very important. Right now I'm struggling with province borders around coastal areas. One...

Re: Crazy&Insane Stories!

I once had the event where a celebrant of faith was "bringing hope" to my minions. Interestingly, the same month, the same province, 20% of the population *left* the province on account of being...
