Did some more testing on startsite pictures. Results attached. Vertical=path (0-8), horizontal=level (0-4). Levels 2-4 appear the same.

For a "mountain" picture, try an air path, level 0 site

Site pictures are based on path and level. Note that a start site with level >0 will be visible to its owner on turn 1 - I just tried that.

Mages that are set to cast spells (or not given orders) will cast spells even if the only possible (path/range/research) spells are useless or even harmful in the current situation. Desperate to...

A more comfortable way to tweak settings for random map generation would be to use RanDom (http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=34826), in case you have not seen/tried that yet.

Thanks but, setting the numbers to 15, 15 solved it. Guess the game really did think the previous numbers were excessive. Having seen the 15s in action, the game was right :)
Their setup in battle...

PD problem

Hello. I have been working on a mod nation. Everything seems to work, except PD. I have defined 4 units for it but when I test it in game only 2 unit types show up.

"Cast Spells"

All items with built in spells either autofire them on turn 0 or add them into the commanders spellbook. So in this case you will want the commander to Cast Spells (if he is a mage...

Rings of sorcery/wizardry are good if you want to cast/forge something specific but none of your mages have enough skill. They are too expensive for general battlefield use, I think. Ring of sorcery...

"Flying monkeys" and "Wind ride" are good for capture because you transport enemy commander to you - you can have mages with Charm set up and ready + the enemy commander is alone so he always gets...
