Re: How to use the Aethric Mirror?

You need to know that the planet is occupied by an enemy fleet before it will work. There are a couple of fleets that you cannot mirror.

Having one of the detection devices will make the Mirror...

Re: Time managment???

I use fast forward if I have to go thru nebula without a nebular drive.

The 'play' button I don't really use, but some do, to wait for things like novas to collapse, or to put the Kawangi in just...

Set up the simulator, choose the Urlu as your race and one Deep Hunter, cloak up and watch the fun...

I've been trying to see if each race can beat a quartet of Kwangai. The...

Re: Experimental Anti-Kawangi Tactics

>I< give you extra points for the brilliant destruction of a nest of galactic baddies - and for the perfumed prose!

As for Esmerelda - I suppose, if one had *somehow* captured her, then (if it's...

Re: Hired help always accepts offers?

I've had them refuse something... I think...

what you need to do is offer something they don't have one of so that they don't throw out the old one, and then take it back if you want.

so not a...

Re: Allies and end score - plus a suggestion

I'm a tester and not a dev... but I know the answers to some of these questions!

Your allies and their equipment DO count. Instead of stripping them, make sure they have the best equipment...

Dual PVCs with the cloaker and the Sardion Optimizer. Even the Yellow Kawangi are toast (if you can dodge the nova cannon, that is...)

Re: A scoring question

Nope, and nope. It's gotta be in your cargo or on your ships.

Tips for increasing score -

If you have time, make sure that nothing with high coin values is left at any of the other races...

Re: Another way to fight Momma Space Yam

Yeah - I also seem to recall that the flanking ships need to move forward near the end, and fire on the tchorak... depends on how much damage you can deal.

Another big hit is to use the cloaked...

Another way to fight Momma Space Yam

Tao is right - another important hint is the FIRE command.

Here's how to do it: Put two multi-weapon guys to your flank. slightly back. Have something like the PVC or the MM or the tach ray with...

Re: smart targeting computers, my tuchus.

I know - it's a scaling issue. Try the science ship with a multimissile and a good thruster vs the Yellow Kawangi. The scale resets nicely and 'plink' makes more sense (and the big side firing arc of...

Re: smart targeting computers, my tuchus.

The Tan Ru Decimator - the ones with PVCs, right?

They're pretty fast... to maintain distance from them you need to have thrusters that are fast enough... depending on your ship type. If you had...

Re: smart targeting computers, my tuchus.

What were the enemies? I'm a little unclear on the setup. They aren't supposed to retreat for you, that's for sure (but that's not what I think you were having a problem with...)

Re: Why no stats?

They're not in the game. The game likes you to figure out these things for yourself.

But if you go outside the game, you can open up the .ini files (which is what you change when you're modding)...

Re: Fighters: a stardrive speed liability?

There's a size tag in the ship ini... that's what it refers to. The Frigate is largest, I think the Pirate, the Bloodfang, and the Muktian bigger ship are the same, the Moon Marauder and the Science...

Re: Tan Ru Diplomacy

I favor leaving them as is - unless you're doing an all Tan Ru mod, which could be cool.

Fighting them - it helps IMMENSELY to have a fast fighter be the front of your flotilla. (f-god's sake!)...
