Re: SE5 Beta 1.70 Changelog

Perhaps one way to deal with this (if this is possible for MM to do?) would be to make shields have a short delay before being 'raised' in combat. Say 0.5 seconds or something. That would give time...

Game is using SEV 1.66 w/ BM 1.14 at the moment. Game description:

Looking for some intrigue? Choke point turtling not your style? Play Diplomacy, where only the savvy survive!

This game will...

Re: Star Wars vs Star Trek

I like 'em both, but B5 was better than either http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Re: A couple questions, SE: V & IV

Thanks. I guess I'll just have to keep plugging at it and see if I can figure it out.

And from there - another question: How are maintainance reductions calculated? From my own testing, it...

Re: A couple questions, SE: V & IV

Actually, I have started using the Balance mod, which has definitely helped in that regard. Still trying to remember and figure out all the tech dependancies again.

Ahh, I just checked. When I...

A couple questions, SE: V & IV

I just came back to SE from a multi-year hiatus, and grabbed a copy of SE:V.

First thing I've noticed, and I just want to confirm - does Advanced Storage Techniques in SE:V no longer add facility...

Re: Which planet/atmosphere type do YOU pick ?

I usually take Rock/Methane... because purple is so much nicer than green or orange, and rock/oxy is too common (again, lost trading potential)

Re: SE5, Tell Aaron what\'s on your Wish List

This would also make small "lightning strikes" and raids much more useful, and require even large empires to defend their major construction centers.

I also like the fact that this would allow you...

Re: OT Poll: Amount of Sleep...

My record is about 60 hours straight... but I never experienced any hallucinations or wierd side effects besides being really tired at that point. Though I do think I slept about 18 hours after...

Re: SE5, Tell Aaron what\'s on your Wish List

A proper "fog of war".
- when your ships leave a system, all colonies you saw should remain shown, and unchanging until another ship moves in, just like in other similar games
- also, it should not...

Re: SE5, Tell Aaron what\'s on your Wish List

If you've modified the settings.txt so that bases can be fleeted, unlimited supplies means unlimited supplies.

If you built a base with just the control components and nothing else (bridge, ls,...

Re: Where Do You Live

I love Kamloops... of course, I lived in small towns all my life, and Kamloops at 80k is the biggest for me, so if you're used to big cities and all the todo Kamloops might seem a bit slow.

It's...

Re: SE5, Tell Aaron what\'s on your Wish List

I'm sure it's been said, but also to have happiness based on a percentage.

losing 10 planets in a 500 planet empire should not affect things nearly as much as losing 10 planets in a 15 planet...

Re: Warp Weapons

I'll often put one on my larger ships, just to break up the enemy fleet and keep them from concentrating their fire in any one place

Re: Dreadnoughts vs Baseships

In stock, which I use depends primarily on my opponent. In most games, I'll build primarily Dreadnoughts, because that that +40% to be hit on baseships can make a big difference. However, in any...

Re: Gamey tactics discussion thread

I totally agree. I was in one game where me and my ally were about to take over 2 seperate enemies, and they both 'surrendered' to our largest foe, who was their ally. That wasn't even the first...

Re: going nuts on retrofit

I think that Gandalf is speaking of a normal retroseries build scheme.

If you have the extra resources such that you can pay for it, with a retroseries Gandalf would have a stronger fleet.

Take...
