Re: Feature requests

I keep forgetting to mention this. I REALLY want a gamma slider or at least the option to have a lighter 'unexplored' color. Depending on the monitor that I use, it is very hard to determine what...

Re: Making things tougher?

I'll second that, traps generated more dread than most of the critters after a certain point. It's a balancing act to be sure, you don't want 'instant kill' monsters either. That would not be very...

Re: Which Way Are We Going?

In my mind's eye we're following the spiral arm inwards.

Re: Victory!

Add Tentaculon and Vordaine victories to the tally board.

At some point I should probably switch from destroying the enemy to making some with the modding tools. :-D

If it cost supplies, call it 'launching probes.' :-)

Re: Feature requests

Somewhere between a feature and a gripe is the fact that that blue/white items disappear if you leave the planet. This is a big fat teaser if the item is on an island and you have mountain climbers...

Re: Victory!

I think I posted something on beta site, will check.

Also, Firax victory on hard+permadeath. Love the option it gave me on the next new game. I died in sector one, of course. :-)

Re: A mid-late game tactic - deep caves

Just to expand on that post. There are two types of large items. Systems which appear as a gray gear and components which appear as blue and white icons. Remember, systems are persistent while...

Re: Victory!

Humanity's Revenge victory on medium + perma-death. Stupid amount of credits dumped into pay-it-forward, I might be able to survive playing on hard. :-)

Re: How does the Lab work?

Since each time you hit test it consumes components, my strategy is to start with the six components that I have the most of and then work my way down from there with the others. That way I have a...

Re: Most helpful skills?

Indeed. You have to become an active scrap hound and buy a lot of gear just for the purpose of scrapping it. I mentioned in another post that I like to have two engineers on the team since I can...

Re: Effect of away team size?

Easy enough to test (pause), oh yeah, officers make a big difference in HP (and with their skills survival and lethality.) I'm a strong advocate of taking a Field Medic Captain on the away time.

Re: Feature requests

New 'terrain' type: crashed ship. Mix regular terrain with broken-up ship wreck layouts with an extra helping of electrical and radiation trouble. Maybe even a sporadically operating laser fence. ...

Re: YASD: Yet Another Stupid Death

Well, what is working for me now is a Field Medic Captain (I always send my captain down) to keep the party alive in case they get mauled or diseased, Virology comes later. One engineer for craft...

Re: YASD: Yet Another Stupid Death

YASD, I guess the random number generator hates me. In was on a delve and I had to pass a trap to get to the next level. The traps goes off and spawns another trap right next to me. And that trap...

Re: Victory!

Amulet of Yendor victory on easy + perma-death. Time to crank it up a notch now that I have a good grasp of the game.

Re: YASD: Yet Another Stupid Death

YASD that would have had me rage quit if the game didn't end with perma-death.

Fracking friendly Linguine heavy warship follows me into an asteroid field shooting me because I'm too close. EVERY...

Re: Reports of bugs or possible bugs.

Ran into a sector with five warp points. First time seeing more than one. Bug or just some crazy roll of the dice I've never seen before?

Re: Feature requests

It would be nice if when you are on fire entering a water space would put it out or wash the burning chemicals off.

Re: Feature requests

Mad at my shuttle pilot, he landed on a cave entrance and obliterated it. Now if that would have put the shuttle on the first level of the cave, that would have been a hoot.

Good to hear that the...

Re: Feature requests

Traffic hazard. On a difficult terrain map with twisty paths, bunnies can get you hurt or possibly killed (such as when running back to the shuttle with low HP and low on air or diseased -or- you're...

* smarter auto-explore - I've died too many times because the thing glitched and sent me to the other side of the map to run out of air.

Re: Autoexplore and Controller

Heh, there's danger and then there's careless (on the auto-explorer's part.) Hitting an unknown danger like when coming out of a forest or turning a corner in a cave is one thing. Hitting a clearly...

Re: Autoexplore and Controller

Um, auto explore has murdered me twice so far (ran out of air by running off on a tangent before I could stop it - on perma-death, of course.) Add in that it does not avoid terrain like black holes,...
