Re: request for new patch: an ai that can learn

There's no real need to support DLLs or provide API or anything else. Publishing .trn and .2h formats would be sufficient. AI can be hooked through existing --preexes/postexec options. Some utility...

Re: Idea thread: special provinces, unique defende

It's easy for adepts to have 100% fire resistance and most of their troops is also fire resistant, so FftS is not a big danger. From my (admittedly mostly Dom2) experiences other spells are much less...

Re: Idea thread: special provinces, unique defende

This would be pretty tough for solo-ing SC - a lot of unroutable with a lot of resistances, plus horde of mages firing all kind of spells (assuming AI will be casting something sensible).

Re: Idea thread: special provinces, unique defende

I am not sure I completely understand your idea. Maybe it can done differently: create two such provinces: one with Golems, another - without and then set it so that only one of the provinces is...

Re: Idea thread: special provinces, unique defende

With such a nice province I was concerned that if there is an obvious way to conquer it (storm the citadel) before the late game it may be very unbalancing (access to 4 magic paths, astral magic...

Re: Idea thread: special provinces, unique defende

Here's my half-baked idea:
The Citadel of High Metals:
magic sites:
- The tower of Golden Order
- The tower of Silver Order
- The tower of Iron Order
buildings:
- mountain citadel,
- lab,...

Re: Thuggity Thug [efficient thug builds]

It depends on what the chassis is for. I like spectral mages and black servants. Tartarians are pretty good for higher end. Out of nation specific, Niefel Jarls are the obvious choice. Lanka's are...

Re: MA Agartha, or Yet another thread fishing for

What I've often seen in the test is the heat scale appearing in the summer (ot cold scale in the winter) and then disappearing the next month (still in the summer). And I think (can't recall for...

Re: MA Agartha, or Yet another thread fishing for

Good point. I have tried few experiments and it seems that seasonal effects are rather random. I got average of about 6 out of 36 months when the scale was offset by 1 (Dom 7). Interestingly, that...

Re: MA Agartha, or Yet another thread fishing for

Wouldn't it pull the scale further by making you lose 10%?

Re: MA Agartha, or Yet another thread fishing for

Not sure how to rate (what criteria?) them, but you certainly need them on the battlefield casting offensive spells. Part of their strength is a nice power curve. They're getting better and better...

Re: MA Agartha, or Yet another thread fishing for

Even with Prod 1, you're already gold bound rather than resource bound if you're buying LI (assuming you're buying Golem crafters every turn and saving gold for your next fort). That LI isn't very...

Re: MA Agartha, or Yet another thread fishing for

With MA Agartha it's not clear how to convert production into a serious advantage. The problem is that you don't have any troops you'd really like to buy. Heavy infantry has nothing for it except...

Re: MA Agartha, or Yet another thread fishing for tips

I think Dom9 is too expensive. I would go with the following baseline:
Awaken Risen Oracle, Dom6, E1D2. Order 3, prod 0, heat 0, growth 0, misfortune 2, magic 1.

This leaves extra 120 points too...

Re: The fatal flaws of scripting mages...

Dom3 behaviour is rather sensible (in most cases). But strangely, I think now that I liked Dom2 system more. In Dom2, finding a good script was a real challenge. When you knew that when you storm the...

Re: The fatal flaws of scripting mages...

Maybe it should be tied to the dominion? So for example, if Dominion is 1 the mage would think "Ok, maybe the god exists, but what he knows about the combat? I'm not spending gems on that Rain of...

Re: OT: good fantasy books

Few additions that weren't mentioned:
David Coe. "Winds of the Forelands" serie.
That's a pretty good serie and the books don't detiorate as the serie progresses (at least not first 4 I've read)....

Re: Interesting MP Server Hosting Bug/Issue

Velusion, I'm not sure how relevant it is, but there's a problem in VMWare that borks the timer functions on Linux on 64-bit AMD (dual core). The patch you have mentioned doesn't solve this problem....

Re: Can I win a war with everyone? Advice?

From your description the situation looks hopeless. You can only hope for some diplomatic miracle, but I can't imagine why any of the opposing players would risk angering his allies no matter what...

Re: Guarding thugs

Guard commander is a great order to keep your troops out of fights. Often you have few elite troops/SC who can handle the enemy, but to siege enemy you need much larger army (which you certainly...

Re: Bringing Back the Super Combatant

Have you tried GK? It's not even that pricey and pretty useful in the late game for forging and summonning of what otherwise would be inaccessible.

Re: It\'d make a reasonable game configuration opti

You mean that was your ONLY lab? Just curious, what is your strategy? Year 2, with no income for lab (and no second lab), but at the same time 2500 worth of mages... - that means that you had enough...

Re: It\'d make a reasonable game configuration opti

You can alchemize fire gems. Besides, if in the second year you don't have enough income to buy a lab, are you sure that your strategy is good?
