	Well, one reason is that a mineral scanner is much cheaper (and thus faster) to build than a robotoid.  If you only had Mineral Miners on the planet, it is unnecessary to spend the extra $$ and time to build a Robotoid.Quote:

 The reason Robotoids are more common is that they require less research points to get them.  But late in the game when you have most or all of the tech tree researched, you should only use Robotoids on planets with different kinds of resource generation, or obviously Monoliths.
