I havn't heard the joke myself but having played Cthulhu once I can well imagine how it goes (much like the joke in Blackadder goes forth)

Black Adder: "Would this plan involve climbing out of the trench and marching slowly towards the enemy?"
General Melchett: "Amazing how did you know?"
BA: "Its the same plan we used Last time, and the 15 times before that"
GM "Theres only one problem"
BA "Everyone gets killed in the first 10 seconds"
