It's hard to say. They did knock out a few tanks, and even that was a big help. buts not suprising that they peformed best when being used as artillery-their designed role.

If I where to play again, I would probably still use a few of them in the direct fire role, but much more hidden areas. This game, I had put them looking down striaght roads, along the panzer line of advance.
