The Elric series, by Michael Moorcock is my favorite series of all time.
The guy has a sword that eats peoples souls. It doesn't get any better than that.


The Book of Swords series by Fred Saberhagen is also good. The gods creates 12 swords with different magical powers, and then place them in the world to see what kind of chaos it creates.
