The bad line number should be referred to the mod maintainer.
The UI effect can be from a corrupted key. Try deleting the file named key in the dominions directory (or rename it) and the game will prompt you to put the key in again.
Personally Ive loved using assassins to stop armies. But the army just waits until the AI buys a new commander for them. Even more effective is using seducers or charmers. Then the commander you get can cause the army to flee which destroys them.

I did that, the old key actually had one number being different from what I was sent
. I propably just mistyped after installing.
