Many people underestimate the south korean militray and i'm posting because i didn't want that assumption to show up in the game.

In vietnam south korean troops earned their reputation as fierce killers.Yes, the south korean troops fought in vietnam war, i'm not confusing it with the korean war, in korea they were fierce but poorly trained. In fact it was in vietnam i believe that south korean soldiers were called "Rock Soldiers" because of their brutal trainig and high kill ratio. The fighting ability of these soldiers were legendary in vietnam. The nva/vc were so afraid of them that they didn't hunt them down instead they fled and hid from them. And even the higher ups of vc sent a message not to fight them unless vc victory is 100% certain.

As for the K2 MBT it is south korea's future MBT, i assume that the game takes place in the future so i just mentioned it.

Tettet:

Please ask these questions of the developer in the ATF Forum. ProSim will know better than us what the plans are...

Tettet,

The ROK Army is well represented in Raging Tiger. In fact, the premise of the game, surprisingly, is a ROK led preemtive invasion of the North!

The scale is pretty narrowly focused on a few units, so I am not sure if you will see ROK marines. But you will definitely see the K2 tank and, especially in the earlier scenarios, a very heavy presence of ROK battalions.

Yes!Yes!Yes!

Finally a game that not only focus on korea but also the ROK military! This is the first time I've seen anything like this, maybe because korea is often looked down upon. Hopefuly, this game would change all that.

You guys have no limit to your creativity, most people would have made n.korea invade, but you completely changed it around!

Your excitement is encouraging, tettet! Am I correct in assuming you are from the ROK?

Anyway, I'm the lead on Raging Tiger, and I thought the idea of a preemptive strike by the ROK with the newest, latest, and greatest equipment would be an awesome idea, and you obviously agree.

During my tour in Korea, I had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with a number of ROK soldiers and KATUSA soldiers. I believe, given the opportunity, the South Korean soldier can stand up to any soldier in the world!

As for the X2-MBT (current designation), I was hesitant to add it due to a lack of really good pictures. However, I did notice that it has a general feel of an elongated and squashed M1A2 with a longer barrel and a few other small details, so yes, the K2 MBT will be well represented, along with the K1A1, the K1 AVLB, the KIFV/KAFV variant, and the M109A3 Korean Variant. There are a few other little surprises, and I am adding things all the time as I do more research into what MAY be in 6 years or so!

Maybe Pat Proctor will let me release a partial unit listing soon, or maybe even a few screens?!

Time will tell, keep checking here and Warfare HQ for updates and such!

Curt

I have a question about the game
I am not that seasoned wargamer but I am interested in this game.

However will this game for the hardcore?
For example, William Trotter categorized ATF as a very advanced level game, similar to Uncommon valor.

I am now enjoying a lot of Korsun Pocket but Uncommon valor was too much for me..
Please advise

I will take a stab at this one...

I recommend that you check out the ATF demo at:

http://www.prosimco.com/atfdemo.zip

Raging tiger will be very similar to this title in scale and game play (though it is going to LOOK alot better and add a ton of features to this engine). If you have any questions about gameplay, this is a good place to get them answered. I recommend you use the demo tutorial (accessed by clicking "tutorial" on the opening dialog) to guide you through your first game. It will answer 99% of your questions.

In general, we strive for a highly playable game that replicates real life as closely as possible. We never "dumb down" the capabilities of units or the skill of your AI opponent. But we do try to create "balance" (i.e. an entertaining scenario that is challenging, but not impossible to win) by the selection of terrain and tactical situations.

Thanks for the question. Let me know if you have anymore.
