Default spob35 Finland Unit corrections

This oob is quite well done as it is, but I managed to find some things to improve. Most of these are cosmetical involving just the unit pictures.

Sources:
Internet source: http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/MAIN.html
The book: "The Finnish armoured vehicles" APALI, ISBN 952-5026-33-7

Unit 003 "FT-18"

- Change availability end date to April 1940.

These tanks were retired from combat use in the end of Winterwar due to almost all beign lost and complete obsolescence. Four tanks remained after winter war and were used only for training in continuation war.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 005 "T-26 M31"

- Change Weapon 1 to -172- "7.62mm DT TMG".

The T-26 model 1931 tanks in Finnish use only had the 7.62mm DT mg arnament.
I mentioned this already in a separate post, but desided to add it in this list too for consistency.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 006 "T-26 M33"

- Change unit picture to "23542" which shows the model 1933 T-26 tank.
The picture currently used shows an OT-133 flamethrower tank.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 007 "T-26 M33s"

- The unit picture shows a model 1939 T-26 tank. A better picture would be "23542".
- The units name could be changed to "T-26 (OT-130)".
- The availability date should be changed to August 1942 - Dec 1946.

This tank is actualy an OT-130 flamethrower tank that has been converted by the Finns to a standard 45mm gun armed tank.

The work to convert these tanks to gun tanks began in 1942 when it was reasoned that the flamethrowers were using too much fuel that was in short supply and a gun was deemed more effective as main arnament.
In the conversion process a fourth crewman was also added with a hull mounted 7.62mm DT machine gun. This was possible since the turret of an OT-130 tank was offset to the drivers side of the hull. On the other side of the hull there were the pressure and fuel tanks for the flamethrower. When these tanks were removed there was enough room for a fourth crewman.

Actual picture of a Finnish OT-130 converted to a gun tank:
http://www.armchairgeneral.com/rkkaw...6/2/T_26_1.jpg
Notice the turret is offset to the drivers side and the added hull machine gun position.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 008 "T-26 M37"

- Change unit picture to "23541" which shows a T-26 with conical turret.
Current unit picture shows a model 1933 T-26 tank with cylindrical turret.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 009 "T-26 M37s"

- Name should be "T-26 (OT-133)".
- Correct unit picture would be "23535".
- Availability date should be changed to August 1942 - Dec 1946.

Same as unit 007 except that this tank was based on a converted OT-133 flamethrower tank.

Current unit picture shows a Vickers 6ton tank (T-26E version).

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 010 "T-26 M39"

- Correct picture would be "23540".
Current unit picture shows the Winterwar era Vickers 6 ton tank.
- Name should be changed to T-26E.

This tank is actualy the English built Vickers 6 ton tank (same as unit 004) except this version has the soviet 45mm tank gun installed. After Winterwar all Vickers 6ton tanks were modified to have the 45mm gun instead of the 37mm bofors gun. Interesting and unique feature of these Vickers tanks is the hull submachine gun postion and a four man crew.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 011 "BT-5"

- Change availability start date to July 1941

Though a number of these tanks were captured in Winterwar none of them could be transported out of the area that was given to the Soviets after the armistice. These tanks were captured again in the attack phase of the continuation war and used from 1941 to spring 1942. After that these tanks along with the BT-7s were retired from combat use and used for spare parts and for the BT-42 project.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 012 "BT-7"

- Change availability start date to July 1941

Same story as with the BT-5.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 013 "BT-8"

- Remove unit?

There were no BT-8 tanks in Finnish use. By the way BT-8 is another name for BT-7M and differs from BT-7 only in that it has a diesel engine.

This unit could be replaced by the T-50 tank wich Finns captured in 1941 and used as the command vehicle for the heavy tank company. T-50 tank is in the Soviet oob Unit "182". If T-50 tank is added it should use unit picture "23503". Availability date would be Feb 1942 - Dec 1946.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 027 "Lndsvrk 40 ItK"

- Change unit picture to "23514"
Current unit picture shows a Swedish post war AA-tank with dual 40mm Bofors guns.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 037 "37mm M36 AT-Gun"

- Change unit picture to "23527" which shows the Bofors AT gun.
Current picture shows the german Pak 3.7cm AT gun.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 040 "47mm M35 AT-Gun"

- Change picture to "16151".
Current picture shows the german Pak 3.7cm AT gun.

This is the Austrian original version of the gun.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 041 "47mm M35 AT-Gun"

- Change picture to "23526"
- Change name to 47mm M39 AT-Gun.

This is the Italian manufactured 47mm at gun with the spoked wheels.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 075 "Panzerfaust"

- Change unit picture to "23584"
Current picture shows German volksturm with panzerfausts.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 079 "105mm H 37 FH"

- Change picture to "23596"
This is the Swedish designed howitzer H/37.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 086 "105mm H 37 Bty"

- Change picture to "23596"
This is the Swedish designed howitzer H/37.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 088 "122mm H 09 Bty"

-Change name to "122mm H 38 Bty"
-Change unit picture to "23180"

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 123 - Unit 127

These are duplicates of units 006 - 010. I would suggest removing these making sure units 006-010 availability dates go to Dec 1946.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 149 "76mm M27 FG"

- Change picture to "19787".
- Current picture shows a 150mm howitzer model 1906.

This gun is the Russian 76 mm regimental gun model obr.1927.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 151 "75mm LK13 FG"

--------------------------------------------------

Current picture belongs to unit 079 & 086.

This is the German 10.5cm Haubitze leFH 18.

--------------------------------------------------

Unit 154 "105mm K29 FG"

Regarding Finnish T-28E availability date:

First screened (up armored) T-28E was captured in May 1942. After this the rest of Finnish T-28 tanks were also uparmored to the T-28E standard.

Unit 015 "T-28E"
Change availability start date to May 1942.

Unit 237 "OT-133"
Currently has 2x7.62mm DT CMG which is incorrect.
- Change weapon 2 to 171 "7.62mm DT CMG".

Unit 251 Engineer Squad

Weapon 3: 229 Pole Mine

What weapon is this representing? I only know of Japanese suicide pole mines that were hollow charge explosives on a stick. Suggest removig the weapon from this unit.

It could be something similar to the British bangalore-torpedoes.

You're right that must be what it is representing. There are pole mines in many other oobs too I really should have realised this. Please disregard my post #5.
