Default Bug with SE5 affecting PBW

We have discovered a small bug affecting SE5 games on PBW. There is something that occurs during ground combat that is causing the game to hang if it's being run at the command line, as all games on PBW are. Not sure if it happens during every ground combat or only just some. The result is your game will proceed along fine on PBW and then one turn along the way it will fail and PBW will not be able to process the turn.

If this happens the game owner can download the game files and run the turn offline and upload the next turn manually. Games run by the host from within the SE5 application do not hang, only when run at the command line. In the test game we have going the next turn after the lockup ran fine, but in that game there was no ground combat on the next turn, so not sure if it's going to fail on every turn with ground combat.

I have already reported the bug to Malfador and they have found the cause and it will be fixed in an upcomming patch. In the mean time you can still use PBW for SE5, just be aware the game owner may need to process the occasional turn offline.

We should be able to find out if it affects ALL ground combat shortly, as I have a couple more lined up.

From the 1.19 Changelog:
Fixed - Ground Combat, Sector Damage, and Mine Damage during movement would cause
command line execution to run forever.

So at least it won't be a problem for long.

Just ran another turn with Ground Combat, and it looks like any GC will hang PBW.

ah... I don't think PBW is upgraded to 1.19 yet, and even if it is I'm not dead sure that things work too well when you mix retail with beta versions.

or did you just try the command line option on a beta version on your own box?
