Well, it seems that for the time being Puma will be in the fridge:

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe...ry-2022-12-19/

I do believe they'll sort things out eventually, but there should be a period in 2022-2023 where they arent available.

It would appear that this "issue" only affects the latest upgrade. The originals are operational

Well, it's finally happening these next two have been "waiting in the wings" more recently in the last week or so concerning the BRADLEY.

Someone just had to be first to step up and that was France with the AMX-10 RCR (Upgraded version.) with a new 105mm round, this is a "done deal" so it's a matter of when as opposed to if.
More on this somewhere else.

So here come the MARDERS and BRADLEYS...

(Mentions the "French Connection".)

(Might be the same ones Jordan received a couple of years ago.)

Now we wait for the WHEN.

Pat

Lebanon not Jordan

Assuming this does happen and we add them to the OOB's they will be in their own UC and use the BMD sections for passengers

What these are in MBT are ammo carriers

Their main purpose is to carry 32 RPO-series one shot flame-throwers for use by the 7 Chemical troops they carry and there is a good chance only half of them are still in use.

I will add this into the SHP files for use by scenario designers to swap with an existing ammo carrier

But IMHO it's not worth using one of the few slots left in that OOB for

Re: PUMA

Been reading another forum and the basics are:

1.) The Bundeswehr no longer has integral maintenance units at Battalion level.

2.) The Pumas were apparently from the training pool which has no corporate unit "ownership" -- they were passed around.

3.) Turns out all but one of the 18 Puma AIFV that broke down during a training exercise could have been fixed by the army within 30 minutes if they had mechanics and the spare parts.

4.) Lots of petty failures -- screen breaks after accidentally being kicked; a blown fuze, screw loose on the ATGM launcher, one vehicle was perfectly fine, but the crew forgot that the auxiliary heating only works when the engine is turned on -- in one sample only two were really damaged -- they had deformed turret rings from hitting something (?)

5.) Slightly related -- about 20 years ago when the Swedish evaluated PzH 2000 and AS-90; they essentially said AS-90 was suitable for conscripts while PzH 2000 was more suitable for career soldiers due to more details to keep track of -- during the Swedish trials it seems you had to keep the floor of the PzH 2000 really clean as small gravel pebbles had a tendency to get into the moving parts there and cause issues otherwise.

Damaged turrets can happen due to quite small things. Way back in the 1970s one of the University OTC Saladins had the crew forget to travel secure the turret while going over to St Andrews, and on a downhill section of road the turret swung round and the barrel swiped and destroyed a concrete streetlamp.

Required a new 76mm gun barrel (even though it loked perfectly fine visually) and workshop inspection to check the turret race bearings ( IIRC, I was in the Territorials then as it paid much better than UOTC, but had a friend who was in the UOTC).

More things added. Just waiting to see if it's the 30mm or 40mm version

Looks like the 40mm m/70B as modified from the Bofors 40 mm L/70 automatic gun used primarily for AA purposes. If it's an export CV90 version from Sweden, then see the below NEXT PARA.
http://hhogman.se/combat-vehicles-1-swe.htm

"The Swedish version of the main infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) is fitted with a turret from Bofors that is equipped with a 40 mm Bofors autocannon. Export versions are fitted with Hägglunds E-series turrets, armed with either a 30 mm Mk44 or a 35 mm Bushmaster autocannon."
