Default What resolution and settings are you running SE5 a

Like it says what settings and resolution are you guys running it at. I am having some problems as of now finding the right settings for my graphics card and the game to make them run in an decent manner. My problem is the picture is real sharp and looks great but there is such lag in the mouse movements its unplayable(32bit any size) and then at the 16bit i get good mouse scroll and horrendous and chopped and discolored picture.

My computer is def up to the system specs
p4 2.8ghz ,2.0 ghz ram ,radeon pro (128mb)

any suggestions, i have been just playing it on my laptop which runs it great and far less a powerful machine

i may just be over thinking any help would be great

At first glance I'm thinking something wrong with your graphics card drivers. Checked that out?

What about advanced features, like the SLI or antialiasing?

Most of the options were set to let the application decide(antialiasing). I'm pretty sure its some kind of setting with the 3d as there isnt any lag until the system view shows up

Try turning it off temporarily just to be sure.

The last time I heard of massive mouse-lag like this (on my brother's computer) the graphics-card was forcing anti-aliasing. Might be worth double/triple-checking all the ways your card can do that.

In answer to your question - I run an athalon xp 3200+ (2.4ghz) with 1.5GB ram and an ATI Radeon 9800xt - using windowed mode on a native 1280x1024 desktop so I can IRC on my other monitor over there <----

It's AA that slows the 2D menus and mouse to a crawl, I had the issue with my old ATI Radeon9600 and it's still worse with a much better Nvidia 6600GT !!
Just disable all and it should be ok

I had the same problem and managed to make it much better by going to the Catalist Control Center -- > 3D Standard Settings -- > Smoothvision: Anti-Aliasing and clicked the “Performance” button; default on mine was quality. I should mention that my system is older and slower than yours so when I say better it is relative. Know what I mean?

AA and SLI are killing the framerate and mouse movement for me. I'm on an nVidia 7950GX2 though.

Constantly changing the global drivers setup when switching between games is a drag. Forget to change a couple of parameters and it either looks like cr*p or is too choppy. For instance NWN2 needs everything a modern card can offer while SE5 requires "compatibility with the 90's mode". For this the nVidia drivers allow one to create specific profiles for games, so you set it up once for a game and they will always load them when that exe takes over the screen. AFAIK this feature also exists for ATI cards, and a 3rd party utility like ATI Tray Tools may have a better interface for managing these profiles, just like nHancer (http://nhancer.com) does for nVidia cards.

I remembered this since the other day, after playing NWN2, I launched SE5 when 1.13 came out and got an almost dead mouse again. So I fired up nHancer, created a proper game profile for SE5 after a couple of tries, and can now switch between these games without changing anything in the drivers setup.
