One thing the Russians are VERY proficient at is turning landscapes into moonscapes.

I must admit I have never seen such destruction post WW2, even including places like Sarajevo, Grozny or Aleppo.

Always was their viewpoint that Artillery is the "God of War"
One of my favorite metaphor comments from WWII is that while the West refined the art of Fire Support, the Russians just lined up the guns wheel hub to wheel hub and let fly.

I have to wonder tho.
Did the US provide counter-battery radars to go with the HIMARS systems they sent to Ukraine?
If so, and the Ukrainians are proficient with them, Russian artillerymen are in for a big surprise.

Everytime the Russians were going to be in for a suprise, 777, Himars, Patriots, etc, etc. It turns out we were the ones suprised.
