Infantry Mod

I've been fiddling with the infantry icons.

I made 3 different rifle figures, two different SMG figures (one could also be a grenadier or officer), and one LMG figure.

I wanted to make icons that were the same size as the originals, with graphics and colours that match the game.

This is what I came up with:

Each of the five different uniforms has 19 icons, so that's a total of 95 icons, I've got about half done, but then they each have to converted to shp files.

I improved the colours a little, and gave the brown figures green helmets.

Looks outstanding! You ever thought about asking Don and Andy if they would allow your work to be added into the periodic patches that are always implemented in spmbt and spww2? Your work could only make both of these great games even better!

Thank you for the compliment.

Although I personally think my infantry mod is an improvement, it’s not as much an improvement as you may think. When the bmp files are converted into shp files, there’s some distortion, then the game adds shadow, and the icons sit on a various coloured terrain.

The end result is not nearly as pretty as the nice bmp files I’ve uploaded here. Perhaps I’ll upload some screen shots sometime.

That said, if this mod were to become popular, and Don and Andy were interested, then they’re welcome to have it.

All the bmp files are now finished. But I still have a tedious process to get all the shps done.

I've done some of that work before and it is tedious. Not the drawing part but copying old SP1 or such and making mods. I've made brown for French, tan for Japan, etc. Someone made a mod and posted it here a while back with larger helmets. I have a very old mod for Japan, tan with bayonets.

This project isn't dead, just delayed. But I thought I would post the 19 man squad to show that the mod is actually a little smaller than the original.
