Seeing as Loser came up with some nice names for DS, I was wondering if he (or anyone else) would like to come up with some for me too. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
I need same cool names for:
Labor Shrine I-VI (increases planet resource production)
Labor Temple I-III (increases system resource production)
Birth Shrine I-III (increases reproduction in sysstem)
Healing Shrine I-VI (cures level 1 plague and increases planet happiness)
Healing Temple I-III (cures level 2 plague and increases system happiness)
War Shrine I-III (combat bonus to ships in system)
Wisdom Shrine I-VI (increases planet research)
Wisdom Temple I-III (increases system research)
I have names for the rest of the shrine types.

Temple of Carnage
Temple of Slaughter
Temple of Massacre
Necropolis
Fate Shrine I-VI:
Temple of Fate

You only have to give me as many names as you want to. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
The womb one is too race-specific, yes. Only mammalian races have wombs.

Plants don't, machines don't, and neither do a number of other improbable anatomies.

Great names! Keep up the good work. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
I do not think that where egg-laying species develop the eggs before laying them counts as a womb. But even if it is still classified as a womb, it is not at all the same thing as the concept of a womb in a mammalian species. The egg and nest provide that role. But of course, plant and machine races (as well as giant amoebae and such) have no wombs to speak of, so http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

My convention is that "shrines" affect the planet, and "temples" affect the system. So, there should not be any mention of "temple" for Labor Shrines, only for Labor Temples.

I just got an idea for a shrine for Nature Ethos (the Deeply Religious trait is separated into 6 different traits) that would protect the planet form Planet Destroying weapons. Can you think of a name for that?

Actually, the War Shrine and Birth Shrine do not follow the convention, but then, there is no way to get just a planet affecting ability for those, so I guess I never bothered changing them.

But no worry, if you can't use them 'as is' I'm sure you can yank the words around a bit as it suits you.

No, wouldn't work for gas giants... maybe gas giant races could get a Shrine of Coalescence but it would be silly to have two identical, interchangeable facilities...
Shrine of Cosmic Fortitude? Sounds more like something that blocks STAR destroyers, or maybe warp points...
Ward of Gravitation? No, sounds more like a MAGICAL planet protector...

Still, there's something to be said for the healing power of sex. (cue Marvin Gaye)
