it's been down a while, I'm sure most who frequent it have been doing something else with themselves. What have you been up to?

I've been playing Medieval Total War for the strategy kick and pounding on things until candy comes out in Diablo II with my cookie-cutter Sorceress for mindless fun. (*loserthree, if you dig the piņata game)

I am playing solo with the Devenull Mod it's a kick. I for one am glad for the break. I was in 3 major games and inbetween games in the KOTH games. One of my games was taking several hours to complete a turn (over 700 planets 1000 ships 72 systems) it takes a lot to manage all that. So this break is a welcome relief. And I have been posting to this forum more. Work and Family are in there somewhere also.

Note to Loser I have sent E-mail to you but have not recived reply.

I've freshened up on CGI scripting and learnt how to make PHP scripts:
My proud achievements (http://ruatha.homelinux.org)
Had more time with the family, rooted some weeds from the garden, layed stone plates around the terass.
Checking the "PBW down" thread on this forum...
Preparing a short lecture.
Had alot of time, really!

I am playing solo AIC game with low AI bonus. My poor Pequininos are besieged by Cryslonites and Krill. I am Last in all categories and desperately fighting back with smaller fleets and obsolte ships... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif

I've been working...New full time job started about a month ago so trying to keep up with that along with other responsibilities and doing stuff with friends. It seems like ever since PBW went down I have had less time to do stuff. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif But I'm going golfing this afternoon so that should be fun.

I've been playing the Small ships mod that got written when Rautha started the "Attack of the Ankle Biters" thread. I always wanted a game fought by hordes of small ships. It's not really working out that way vs the AI, but still, I'm having fun learning the tech tree.

I downloaded the Age of Empires demo and have been playing the Coastal map, trying to beat the most difficult setting. Yes, I'm behind the times, but still enjoy it. I've thought about planning my strategy in some of my PBW games, but haven't done much there yet. Also, I've been going to bed before midnight most nights....Greybeard http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

I've been on vacation. Didn't even know PBW was down until 2 hours ago. Was worrying that the AI would have screwed up everything in my absence, but curtsey of Geo's provider: Not a single missed turn http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Well, among other things, you can see by the SE4 Rating thread I've thrown together a little website to try and get some interest up in an SE4 rating system.

Beyond that, I've noticed I've gotten more sleep... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

- Waiting for Starfury...

I've actually been working while at work since I usually spend an hour (or more) taking my turns when I first get in (while it's nice a quiet).
I hope the site is up soon ... or others will get use to my over productive mode. That could be disastrous when the site comes back.
Good news is our admin for the game has set it up to play by email until then.

Mech Commander, the X-box game?
I don't like the simplistic damage model, or the infinite ammo stuff.

The Mechwarrior PC game is nice...
I managed to make quite a unique design in there that was a winner -
Take a light mech, About three steps above the smallest one. Pile on as much armor as it can hold, and fill the rest with 7 or more flamethrowers and lots of heatsinks.

In combat, you run up to the enemy assault mech, and flame him good as you go by. He overheats and shuts down no later than the second volley of flame.
One or two more hits (depending on how many heatsinks it has) and the mech will go critical. Begin a full running retreat just before you fire, and your armor is will be just enough to keep you together as the enemy makes a big glass crater in the desert. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

PC MechCommander 2 has some good multiplayer gameplay if you are into the BattleTech universe. It also has a very powerful and intuitive editor: mission, campaign, and terrain.

Ooooo, MechCommander. I may have to dig that one out. Nothing like Player-vs.-PilotAI tactical combat.

Cirvol,
Mark Kinkaid bought the rights to it, Fixed a lot of bugs and Made it easy to play across the internet.
Current play is very much like Empire Deluxe. For $30 it is well worth it. (in my opion). There is a demo you can download. There is no password protection, (one of the major issues with the 80s Version).
Mark is very active with the game and intends to develope a Version where you can create your own units. Take a look at the Development page.

I just found this "Titans of Steel" game. Looks like an accurate clone of the old "Mech Warrior" game for the Amiga, from dozens of years ago. I'm about to buy it and give it a run. Looks super-cool!

I bought it and played it. Very buggy. The game almost makes sense. As a game engine it is a good effort but the bugs overwhelm the playing experience. I gave up on it. IF you can get it second hand it's worth a try otherwise Waiting for SEV would be better.

I wasn't into PBW yet, but was about to start... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

I read a lot of webcomics, then followed a link in one of the webcomic sites and ended up entering a MUD. My addiction alert must be faulty because it failed to go off, I fear it may be too late now. Consider yourselves warned. (http://www.achaea.com)

(Yesterday I died for the first time. I crossed a wall of fire and caught on fire. No problem, there's a pond not too far away, I ran over there, still on fire, and jumped in. The fire doesn't go out, now I'm taking drowning and fire damage, so I decide to crawl out and roll on the ground, when a lightning bolt from the storm overhead hits the pond and fries me. Aaaaargh.).
