I've started working on my second mod that I would like to share. In it, I use components from several mods. How do I go about getting permission to use those components? How do I give credit?

The components and where I got them:

Light Missile System-Proportions
Point Defense Beam-Proportions
Self Defense Cannons-Proportions
Defense Cannons-Proportions
Mini-Point Defense Cannons-Devnull
Anti-Fighter Missile-Devnull
Sprint Ship Missile-Devnull
External Mt. Capital Missile-Devnull
Point Defense Laser-P&N

most people here follow the gpl licence with their seiv stuff. If you use it Release your Version of it as well for public use and abuse.

And in the modinfo.txt put in a thanks for everything by everyone. That will do just fine.

It's good if you mention what you copy from other mods in a readme (or whatever documentation your mod uses). Feel free to use Proportions stuff.

First off:

Just ask whoever's mod it is you are borrowing it from, then keep in mind, most people take their ideas from other sources, or modify somebody elses ideas and make it into something new. Very little here is originall anymore.
