Erax, you could have announced the demo release little more obtusely, don't you think? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

thx, i got it, installed it...
and the damn thing gets memory errors every few minutes http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
i'm using a p4 - asus mobo with 845 intel chipset
ati radeon AIW 8500 DV w/ 64 megs ram
half gig of ram
directx 9.0b
windows 2000 pro with sp4 and all crit.updates
ie, what should be a 'good' system...
i guess there are still a lot of bugs which need to be worked out?
from what i've seen tho, it looks really really cool

No memory errors here, but I didn't figure out how to do too much, either.

Played around with it a little Last night and I like it. Word of advice though... Go through WP's at full speed. That way you might be able to out run the pirates on the other side (and if you're going to do this you might want to move extra shields to the rear of the ship).
I was originally quite leary of the hardpoint aspect of ship creation, but after seeing how it's been handled (light/heavy Versions of components that essentially just evenly multiply the tonage/structure/effect, etc.) I feel much better. Still wish that he'd been a little less restrictive with the weapon hardpoints though.
Tis quite fascinating to see the SE4 standbys in 3D.

Sorry Wydraz, I didn't mean to leave anyone out. It's just that, from what I know of the people around here, a mysterious title is a sure way of getting their attention. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I went through one and then when I warped (in supper slow mo mode) I was imediately warped back, then back again, then back again etc etc etc. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif

the game is interesting from the point of being a SE fan. otherwise it is good, i think, but the lack of Z axis might be the killer. It is, however, a sound base for modding, and might well be worth the money. i might buy it someday.

i've never had a problem going through a warp point. once i waited a long time and got warped back.

I don't think it needs to be completely 3D. I think it makes it excessively difficult to navigate and engage targets. In games like Homeworld, it wasn't bad, because you just ordered the ships around and didn't really control them when it came to attacking.

what i had always enjoyed in flight/space simulators was the 3d freedom - heck, i still remember Virtual Velocity, and the fun i had falling down from the sky bombarding those pesky turrets to dust...
