And Fyron is not on line at the moment. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Confirmed. And it was down when I tried to access it about 10 hours ago.

I seem to recall Fyron saying he had just moved back to college, and did not yet have internet access at his dormroom/apartment.

His move back to college shouldn't be interfering with the website though. Odd.

Can someone supply another link where I can download Planetpack9 and Facilitypack10 since the only link I had was at this site. Thanks!

the server itself that spacempires net was on is not in commision.

Needless to say it will be 5 days or more before you see se.net back up again.

I will keep you informed until fyron is back up and running with internet connection at school

I found out about it after Shrapnel closed for their server moving... so, I could not post here to tell you anything.

Some jackass abused the server by using it to generate spam emails, so the hosting got shut down. My web host is getting a new server in a few days, and there is a temporary server up (though with nothing on it for SE.net...). My latest database backup dates from 8/17/03, which is lacking nearly everything IIRC. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif Discussions are currently underway to get the old server activated again so that the data can be gotten off of it and transfered to the new server...

No one deserves a denial-of-service attack. Those who launch them are evil people.

Hey! Why is Fyron back to being National Security Advisor? He's supposed to be Ruler of the World.

I don't understand, was someone using spaceempires.net for spamming or was spaceempires.net spammed until it crashed?

SE.net was not involved in the spamming, neither sending nor receiving it. SE.net was not on a dedicated server (as that is expensive...); it was a different user that sent the spam.

You have got to be ****ting me! SE.net was taken down because someone said you were spamming! Don't they investigate these things? Oh wait, no they don't, look at what happed to other sites.

This really stinks! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif

No no no. It was a different user on the same server, not me. Noone accused SE.net of spamming.

Cable does not have enough uploading bandwidth to host the site...

I would rather use Linux to host a site, as it is free. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Oh, I get it now.

One of your host's other clients got spammed into the dark depths of the cyber regions and took spaceempires.net with it and everyone else on that server. That sucks, but figures.

I think it would be smart of your host to move the targeted site to it's own box and everyone else to a new box incase it happens again.

No... a client was sending out spam from their account, not getting spammed. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Getting a backup restored seems to be happening...

Linux is free, but it ends there.

Edit: Hey I got a promotion on this post…..

Do you get a refund for the time the server has been down?
