OK so I spend hours making a map then download the Trek mod and then the Planet image pak and then wehn I load my map many images are all wrong. ie warp points are now planets. And when I load the TrekMap I also notice many wrong things like suns that are ringworlds. and when u click them the game crashes. Anyone know what's up with this?
P.S. With my map I found that when I deleted all the new planet images and then return planets.bmp to the original it look ok. ???

Did you make the map with the Mod files or with the default files?

Arg this is getting wierder. Now When I click New Game I get a message "unable to load .... Planets/p0617.bmp". But If I quit and start a another New Game I don't get the message. If I quit that game and start New I do get it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif Happens every other time. I also get it when editing a race.

Could someone please load this map up and see if it looks OK? I'm wondering if there is something wonky with my system. Look to see if the warp points look normal and the stars. (there should not be any ringworld images)

Looks OK to me.
Fairly large map, about 1/3 of the systems empty, I see Earth has no atmosphere (LOL) but a moon, and there are no direct links to Heaven http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif
Crusied around a little and checked several warp point connections and names and they seem to match up.
Not sure what ringworld images are but I saw one nebula and one of those brown pointy things (SW quadrant). Didn't check every system but about 3/4 of them.
Not sure what else to do.

Thanks Slinky.
Do you have any of the planet pak images installed?
(PS A ringworld image is a small one the same size as the planet image. It looks like a ring around a star. On my system many of the images seem to get replaced with them)

ARGGGGG This is frustrating. If I load my map in plain old unmodded SE4 it looks OK. But when I try to load in in the StarTrek Mod I get tons of images showing up wrong. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
Edit: Woohoo Got it to work by deleting SectType.txt from the mods data folder. Although why sectype.txt would have any effect on a saved map is a bit of a mystery

I guess the planet paks change the look of the planets?

Like all the image paks they just add new ones and should not effect the old images. Thats what is so confusing.

Secttype.txt affects a map greatly since it is responsible for corresponding the planet/star/warp point with its picture.

I don't know what your problem is. I can load and play the map with the Star Trek Mod that I have installed. I can also edit it in the map editor.
It seems like some of your mod files are incorrect and that's what causing the problem.
I was using Star Trek Mod 1.2.0 and PlanetPak 1.8 - what Version of the Trek Mod where you using?

Man things are just going from bad to worse here. my map looks ok now in unmodded so I decided to load the planet pack again. Now when I load the Trek map that comes with the mod none of the new images show up! I'm at the point were I want to reinstall the game. Now if I could just find the damn CD.

If you are loading the trek map into the map editor then you need to make sure that you're launching it from the mod launcher with the Star Trek mod chosen - or set path.txt to the star trek mod. The map editor will use whatever the path.txt and those data files, just like the game...
Another possible solution is that Atrocities may have included an incorrect secttype file...?

Ok, the problem is that Atrocities secttype file is not correct from the previous Version of his Star Trek Mod. It seems that he overwrote this file in his 'master' directory when making some changes. The file is all messed up compared to the one that you made your map with. It's missing numerous entries that are in the previous Version.
I did duplicate what you are experiencing. E-mail Atrocities about this problem, so he can restore the at least the 1.2.0 secttype.txt file.

Well that figures. I'm guess this is all my fault and SE4Modder. Using the SEctType.txt from FQM and the map works. However open up SE4Modder and then save SEctType.txt breaks things again. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif
