View Full Version : Strange Ship Movement in Tact Combat

Last night while conducting offensive operations against another empire I had some very strange things happen.

Several (8) small fleets with an average of (11) vessels each had just entered into Tactical Combat Operations (TCO) with the express purpose of liberating a planet.

A majority of the vessels were Frigates with a normal movement of (5) in TCO.

A full 75% of all vessels involved showed only a movement of (2)..(which is not the norm as stated above).

These vessels were not damaged..and had entered the sector with plenty of Supplies and Strategic Movement (consequently..these same vessels and fleets had conducted TCO a few turns earlier with no degredation of effectivness).

Also....even tho the Targeting % was showing a (99) to attack the planet...the vessels with reduced movement would not engage the planet (I have checked the strategies and could find nothing to preclude them from engaging..plus it was Tactical combat..so I had MY finger on the trigger..not the AI)

Has anyone else ran into this?

I was playing the AI Campaign..so I will post in that thread also.

Only thing that I know that causes a similar result is if your ships run out of supplies whilst in tactical combat (some weapons use supplies in TCO).

However if this is not the case sounds pretty strange.

I dunno if this was answered in the AIC thread or not, but it sounds to me like they were ignoring the planet due to hard-coded protocols about which ships should engage which planets.

Might be a side-effect of multiple fleets during an invasion.

This was already answered (somewhere) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

JLS has some of the AI Blockade Planets like a Human Player until Troopships arive to capture it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
JLS also has some of the AI glass planets also like some Human Players play.

I am not sure why, I guess to mix it up a little.

If this is your fleet Grand Deceiver in Fast Tactical you may want to set your Strategies in the Empires pull down menu and have the right Fleet orders for your created Fleets and most of all the individual Ships and some fighters need the right Strategy this can be set in the design drop down menu http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Please keep in mind if the GAS or ICE AI Player glasses the Rock Planet, it will be of little use to them early in the game if that AI Player does not have ROCK colonizer ability. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
