Sounds very interesting. How about no Talisman, instead of no Religous, though?

I mean you're restricting specific parts of Stellar manip, why not specific parts of religious?

Also, I don't know if 10 turns is long enough. Sometimes it takes ten turns just to get to a place.

if your using the balance mod

why not just make the talisman a mount like in the sweet mod.

Atrocities, Loser:
Welcome on board.

Religious is very expensive with the balance mod, so it will be a bad deal without the Talisman. But if anyone wants it, no problemas http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

There will be at least 1 ringworld/player, and they will be spread pretty far apart. While the ones furthest away from you may be out of reach, the closest will not be more than 4-5 turns away from your home system. Don't think this will cause a problem, but I am flexible.

Tesco:
Cause I'm lazy. I will leave mod-making to those who enjoy it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

low tech start?
med tech cost?

is that 4-5 turns away early game or 4-5 turns away 6 x QE + SS? Just curious.

The guy whose 'close' ringworld is his atmosphere type will have a wonderfully lucky advantage early on. I can only hope I'm that guy.

(Actaully, I can only wonder why I'm getting into another PBW game.... I'm trying to get a second job, bringing people into my house that are almost certain to have strange effects on my social life (a DJ for Christsake), and then there's the girl.... Whatever, sounds like a real interesting game and I am apparently weak. Joy.)

I'm working on the map right now, and it looks like 40-50 sectors would fit nicely.

If someone who will not play can help with final player placement, it will be easy to make sure that the closest RW to each player is of the right type and atmosphere: And perhaps we could set a rule that it's reserved for that player and can't be attacked before turn 30.

I was thinking low tech start, and maybe 3 planets and high tech cost.

4-6 players on a modified cluster map
Each player gets some 20+ "safe" systems (standard, not FQM), with 2-3 warppoints to a (some) central cluster(s). These central clusters will be filled with goodies like some ringworlds, 300 % huge planets, ruins and so on. The winner will be the palyer who can hold the center by himself (details to be discussed, but something like owning all central RW's for 10 turns). No warp openers/closers allowed, you have to go through the WPs already there. No treaties, each player on his own..

Suggestions for setup, comments welcome.
- Empire setup using PVK's Balance mod ?
- 3000 points
- Highest treaty NI, Each player for himself.
- No Intel
- No Ancient, but general layout of the universe known by all players.
- No Religious
- Stellar manipulation on, but warp openers/closers not allowed.
- 48 hour turns

Interested ? Post here or send me a mail. If more than 6 players wants in, I can set up more games.

Have the game set up in a few days (working on the map), but here are some more details.

Each player gets a nice cluster of 20 home systems. Only 2 warppoints lead out (they are separated by 2 systems, so you need 2 fleets to guard them). Both WP’s leads to a system that is empty expect for 1 Ringworld (only 150 % Ed http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ) which will be of your preferred Planettype/Atmosphere. From this system, 5-6 warppoints (to many to guard) leads to a central cluster where the goodies are located. This should lead to some interesting strategical decisions. Hide in your home cluster and try to defend your Ringworld or go for the goodies at the centre which will be hard to defend ? And on the attack, go for the Ringworlds or bypass it and go for a rampage inside the home clusters ?

(salivates at 300% optimal ruins ringworlds http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif )

I'd love to, but I'm kind of busy this quarter with work (yah right, that's where I am now http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif ) and I'd better not get into any more PBW games than I've already committed myself to! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
