New poll! Please make detailed responses via Posts! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
I have also been considering adding some text description stuff like in AIC to clarify some of the system type sections and all.
Minor clarification:
System density refers to the Sparse, Standard and Dense prefixes, which determine how many planets are in the "standard" systems.
Warp point density refers to how many warp points there are, the WPH, WPL, and no prefix stuff. Heavy means more WPS, light less WPs.

Why would I do that? That would be a totally useless response. Just go get FQM and load it up, and you can see for yourself what they are.

OK, I am one of the "I'll explain" people (not that I'm a good choice for that but)...
When I consider a map to play on, the first decision I make is what kind of map I want (for example, "cluster" type differs a lot from "spiral" type in the regular game. Then I decide how big I want it (depending on players or some other factor). Then, I would move to how rich to make each system in planets. Final would be warp point density.
So, to try and explain it, I would prefer something like this:
Spiral
*Small
--Planets Sparse--
---Warp Light
---Warp Standard
---Warp Heavy
--Planets Standard--
---Warp Light
---Warp Standard
---Warp Heavy
--Planets Dense--
---Warp Light
---Warp Standard
---Warp Heavy
*Medium
--Planets Sparse--
---Warp Light
---Warp Standard
---Warp Heavy
--Planets Standard--
---Warp Light
---Warp Standard
---Warp Heavy
--Planets Dense--
---Warp Light
---Warp Standard
---Warp Heavy
*Large
--Planets Sparse--
---Warp Light
---Warp Standard
---Warp Heavy
--Planets Standard--
---Warp Light
---Warp Standard
---Warp Heavy
--Planets Dense--
---Warp Light
---Warp Standard
---Warp Heavy
Cluster
(etc.)

I like Slynky's suggestion.

The small, medium, large part of that is not dependant on quadrant type, so would not be in the list. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif But, that does sound like a good suggestion. I shall look into it.

It is looking kinda funny...
WPL Sparse Mid-Life
Sparse Mid-Life
WPH Sparse Mid-Life
WPL Standard Mid-Life
Standard Mid-Life
WPH Standard Mid-Life
and so on. Maybe I should add WPM to the "normal" warp point ones or something so they all line up... what do you think?

How about "Huh? What ARE all those different quadrants anyway?" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Well now that you mention it, ya those were kinda painful. The damaging warp points too. I would start a game and all of my colony ships would be destroyed going through WP's. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif
That made for a fun game..... sometimes. It hurt me really bad in a few PBW games though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Well, now you have to select the Chaotic Region to get those damaging WPs back. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Awsome. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif You see, you are constantly improving upon an already great mod. I would not be too surprised if your mods are not in some way incorperated into SE V.
They just give so much more play ability to the game that to play without them is unthinkable.
And no I am not *** kissing! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif I am being http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif honest.

I wouldn't call sporadic updates at monthly intervals constant improvement...

Unless some of those updates introduce bad things... like damaging WPs... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Check this out:

I am reorganizing, and have added some descriptors a la AIC. What do you think? Load it up in SE4 (probably from within a FQM mod, backing up the old file first). It only has Mid-Life and Cluster quadrants so far.

Looks good. My preference would be for dense to be before standard so that it would be
dense
standard
sparse
but that is just my personal preference. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Well you can reorder your own copy if you like... too far along now to go about reversing everything. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
