Wouldn't it be nice if someone could offer all of the mods, and races on one disk that could be ordered at cost + shipping and handling. No profit made on the disk, just at cost? This way those of us on dial up could get a complete disk, current as of the time of mailing, with all of the races, all of them, and all of the mods.

I know there are some legal issues with copy righted materials, but I think as long as they are currently in circulation on the net, and the person sending out the cd did not make a profit on it, then it would be ok. I am no lawyer though, so feel free to enlighten me.

Wouldn't it be nice to find out if someone who actually works for a major studio, or production company, that make SciFi tv playes SEIV?

I for one would love to read about someone like Lucas or Spielburg (sp) playing SE IV.

Wouldn't it be nice if large companies that produce PC and other platform games would take MM's lead and go back to the basics of game play and quality first, shock and awe second? Over the Last two or three years it has become increasingly difficult to find original, well thought out, and fun games to play. There out there, but not in any great numbers like they used to be.

Do any of you remember Interplay and all the good games that company produced? Decent, Freespace, Starfleet Command, and Bolder Gate? Man I tell you I still get the ugre to dog fight in Freespace every time I see a space combat scene. (I think the new BSG mini series uses a lot of the Freespace space combat forumla in there space combat scenes.)

What about the Wing Commander series, or game like Doom and Heretic? Sure Id Software is still alive, but lately their offerings have been deluted by partnerships with other games, and they have not offered any good single player games past the SP Wolfenstien. (And an expansion pack for SP of that game is long overdue.)

Wouldn't it be nice if we could go back in time and buy that winning super mega trillions lottory ticket? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Oh ya, that would be sweet.

Note to self, if you ever do go back in time, run when you meet that pretty blond at work. Just run and run fast, she is pure evil.......

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">it would be usefull if it was all packaged nice and all you had to do was run a little installer which found your seIV dir automaticaly and installed it all in one go...
or even just one nice zip file.
with all the directorys in the right place so all you had to do was unzip it.

Can you say SE4 Gold? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif It had all the mods and non-copyrighted shipsets on it when it came out. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Wouldn't it be nice if someone would now offer ALL current ship sets and mods on a single cd at cost as so not to be offending those who be offended if they thought one was "selling" their copy righted imaged.

If you can get it off the net for free, then offering it on a cd at cost + S&H shouldn't draw any lawsuites. And if it did, what judge in the world would side with the platiff if the material was offered for "free" on the internet currently?

in that case anyone of us with a decent broaband connection, time, and a cd wrighter could do it.
I still think that it would need to be zipped, and made sure that every shipset is compleat and AI files dont give errors though.

That is nice to know Geoschmo. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I think there are more "industry" people reading these forums, especially the story threads, then we know. They have to get their ideas from someplace, why not from an obsecure web forum. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I'd buy that cd if it ever came out. It would be nice to have all of the shipsets current with the current Version of the game. Count me in.

Well you wouldn't be buying it, rather just ordering it and paying the costs of production and shipping.

The CD would have only mods and ship sets, no SEIV game data at all. Just mods and ships. You know, the free stuff that you can download from the internet. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Doesn't major sites like C|Net, Gamespot, and GameSpy offer this service? Where you can go Online, pick and choose the mods, programs, files, and demos you want and then download or buy them on a custom CD?

I'm sure a similar service could be offered as long as the copyrighted and questionable materials weren't on the CD and each and every author consented and is credited.

I'd like it for sure, my 33.6 clunker modem (my 56K melted Last summer) can barely email all the documents I need to send and file each day, let alone download all the mods I play in the off hours.
