View Full Version : Cloaking drones bug?

If I incude Stealth Armor I into drones design, the de/cloaking buttons appear in meniu. However they do not work correctly. The cloaking ring appears only in the drones information window (under supplies), but not in the main system window. If I order a drone to cloak, the next multiplayer turn its state is automatically set to 'uncloaked'- the cloaked status icon is removed from drones information window.
I'm using GOLD 1.84

Has anybody encountered that already? Or should I send this bug to Malfador?

I know the cloaking ring not appearing for units on the system map has been fixed, but I haven't heard anything about drones automatically uncloaking... might want to send that one in http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

They are supposed to uncloak just before they hit their target, though. How great is the range to target when they uncloak? If it's only a single turn's movement they are behaving correctly.

I thought to use them as tiny portable spy vehicles that costs no maintenance. But this idea fails.

But I think you are right that if you want to keep this drone cloaked it should be possible.
Just a stupid question: you don't have any ministers activated?

maybe it's because drones are supposed to be throw-away and cloaking them is ongoing.

Just made a test but in a turn based game: drone cloaking worked without problems and the cloaking was not deactivated after a turn.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Sats can not move. I design a drone to have enough solar sails to regenerate supplies while sitting + stealth armor + some engines. And move it to a system I want to observe. At the highest drone level it is possible to include some kind of scanners to see cloaked ships as well.
I think it is much less micromanagment than using sats.

And nope, no ministers.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Yes, turned based works fine. But it does not in multi. I have just ran 2 multiplayer turns on PBW today. The first turn I order a drone to cloak. The next it was automatically decloaked. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Reported this bug to Malfador. I hope they'll fix it in the next patch http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
